Behind every well -known Dutchman lies a private life that is often just as fascinating as the spotlights in which they are. In the section ‘This is my family’, Dutch celebrities give RTL Boulevard a glimpse into their family life. This week: ‘Buy without looking’ interior stylist Roos Reedijk (50) and her children Loef (15) and Bien (12).
“Of course you see that she is recognized on the street, but she has not changed”

Roos calls her family ‘very close’. “We do a lot of things together. Of course we just work hard during the week and the children know that too. We always try to find a moment in the day that we are all together.”
And that is quite a challenge, because the family is full of planning and sports activities. Bien says: “I’m on sailing, hip hop and hockey.” Loef is not inferior to that: he hockey five days a week and sails on Sunday.
Every week the agenda is passed through. Roos loves that she can work a lot from home. “I have always said as long as my children are in primary school, I want to work from home anyway.”

In the meantime, High School is LOOF and Bien goes to the first year after the summer. Roos shines: “Even if they are in high school, they also really like my fun.” Thanks to her garden office, Roos can easily join the kids between work.
Puberty is clearly noticeable in Huize Vrijp-Rijdijk. Bien and Loef, both adolescents, have a typical brother-sister band. “It is sometimes fine, but we can also have irritations towards each other. It’s not a fight, but just annoy each other a little,” explains Loef.
Roos secretly enjoys how her children grow up: “It is very pleasant. In the beginning you are very careful. Now you are many more equals.” Occasionally she gets a big mouth back, but still the cosiness dominates. In this way her son describes her as ‘a chill mother’. “She doesn’t strictly do everything, but if something has to happen, then you have to listen.”

Well -known mother
Roos became a well -known Dutchman thanks to her role as an interior stylist Buy without watching. She also regularly appears on the desk of RTL Boulevard. During their first vacation after the success of Buy without watching the BN’er shelf really became clear. At the baker and at the campsite, people asked what it was like to have a famous mother.
And at home? There, the fame has also left its spurs. “The house has exploded a bit,” laughs Loef. “We do not agree with all the interior choices in the house. It is fun. Everyone who comes in says that they also want such a house. But after a while it is a little too much color or then more and more things are added such as a bright pink cupboard.” If it is up to the kids, something may disappear, but: “She doesn’t always listen to that.”
Yet the children think that little has changed since their mother has become known. “Of course you see that she is recognized on the street, but she has not changed.” Loef even has fun: “A lot of girls come to me and then ask:” Are you the son of? “” In the meantime he has hooked up a friend. “I don’t hope for that reason,” he jokes. Roos thinks it is fun that a daughter -in -law is now coming to the floor.
Loef no longer looks at his mother on TV, sometimes Bien still with her father. He absorbs everything from Roos. Bien even helps her mother with clothing advice when she goes to RTL Boulevard.

Childbirth
Roos looks back on motherhood. Her births were rather tough: “Two emergency caesareans. They both didn’t want to get out, they love their mom that much.” Getting her first child, she thought it was quite a switch. “We were really used to that irregular life.” With a child that was no longer possible. Roos stayed at home more, while her husband kept traveling. “This made it a lot to me.” But no matter how cliché it is: it all worked out.
The names of the children are also not standard. “Loef is a sail name. I was born on a boat. Actually, we have always had a little names in the family related to ships.” Loef is based on the windy side of a boat. In her youth, Roos once heard this name. “I knew immediately: I also want to call my son Loef later.”
Bien got her name because of a special band: Roos her mother gave birth at the time in the house of an acquaintance, in the room of their daughter Bien. She used to fit on rose often. “Bien has had a daughter and she has called it rose. Now the whole story is correct and also because it is a beautiful name, we have called our daughter Bien.”

In their mother’s footsteps?
Loef and Bien don’t know what they want to be later. Loef found his father’s work as a director abroad ‘cool’, but whether he wants it himself? He is not out yet. Loef will help his mother this summer. “We have to set up two more houses for Buy without watching This summer. So he goes well with me a bit of cupboards. “But don’t expect you to see him on TV.” I prefer to stay out of the picture, “says Loef. Bien is creative and likes to paint, but she doesn’t know if she wants something with television.
Roos thinks it is important that the children learn what hard work is. “It is very important that they know what to do to earn money, but also good for the social level.” Loef is already working in the port and at home help the children with odd jobs and tasks. Bien and Loef are proud of what their mother has achieved. “She worked hard for it.”
Roos surprised her children last year with her participation in The Masked Singer. In the video below you can see more about that.
