The compact Ford Puma crossover in Europe has replaced the not-so-successful EcoSport model. It is also developed on the Fiesta hatchback platform, but if EcoSport mimicked off-road vehicles (a tall body, a spare door on the fifth door), then Puma is more like a Fiesta with a slightly increased ground clearance. The company did not begin to release the “charged” EcoSport, but Puma will still have the ST version.
Two weeks ago, Ford published a teaser for the future Puma ST SUV, and now pictures of the car without camouflage have appeared on the Web. There are not so many external differences from the standard model with the ST-Line package: only a small aerodynamic skirt of the front bumper, a modified design of the lower section of the radiator grill, a slightly enlarged spoiler, alloy wheels of a special design, two exhaust pipes instead single and barely noticeable pseudo-diffuser.
According to preliminary information, under the hood of the “hot” Puma there will be a three-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost turbo engine (200 hp, 290 Nm) from the related Fiesta ST hot hatch. A six-speed “mechanics” will work in tandem with him, but you can’t count on the appearance of all-wheel drive: most likely, the Puma ST will be exclusively front-wheel drive.
