Hot Pursuit was compared to the original, and the result is depressing

Today’s a leak didn’t lie: Electronic Arts really announced Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, which is being developed by two studios – Criterion Games and Stellar Entertainment. Meanwhile, the author of the YouTube channel Crowned seized the moment and promptly released a video comparing the original and the remaster. As it turned out, the differences between them are minimal.

In his video, the blogger compared three versions of the game at once: the Xbox 360 version, the PC version and the re-release. The first one is noticeably lagging behind the other two in terms of texture quality, drawing range and other aspects, so it can be discarded immediately. But then everything becomes more interesting. Already from the first shots, it is clear that there is almost no difference between the remaster and the original from a PC, which is no longer available for purchase. The only thing that really catches your eye is the slightly modified lighting. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is slightly brighter than the game it was a decade ago. And the second at least some significant improvement is the visual effect when a flame bursts out of the exhaust pipes for a moment.

Otherwise, the changes are either absent or difficult to notice. Literally everything, from the weather conditions to the detailing of the cars, remained the same. The same opinion is shared by commentators on YouTube. A user under the pseudonym Galaxel wrote: “I want to be honest – I can’t tell you what the difference is”… And most people agree with him.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will be released on November 6, 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and will reach Nintendo Switch a week later.
