GURUGRAM, KOMPAS.com – A patient woman presumed raped by the officer hospital while undergoing treatment tuberculosis ( TB) of India.
The 21-year-old victim has been treated for several days at Hospital Fortis in Gurugram City, India, as quoted from Daily Mail, Friday (30/10/2020).
She was allegedly sexually assaulted while in a “semi-conscious” state and using ventilator.
On Tuesday (27/10/2020), the patient was reported to be quite conscious and told his father what happened through handwritten notes.
Police said they had identified the suspect but had not been able to arrest him so far, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Currently, the victim is still undergoing treatment at the hospital, where police say his family suspects the incident occurred between the time he was treated on October 21 and October 26.
The woman’s father questioned the hospital how a male employee could be left alone to take care of his daughter.
“My daughter was raped while in the hospital. This is a breach of patient safety and security, ” the victim’s father told reporters.
According to police, the victim was initially taken to the hospital after he complained of shortness of breath.
When the rape took place, the victim was undergoing treatment for TB in the isolation room alone at ICU.

Assistant Police Commissioner Usha Kindu said that the victim’s father visited the child on Tuesday.
At that moment, the victim conveyed what happened to him through the notes he wrote.
Kindu said that the victim pronounced the name Vikas to his father, so that the police could identify the suspect.
“ Hospital conducted an internal investigation and we were notified by a family member (of the alleged crime). We have identified the suspect but have not arrested him, ” said Kindu.

The police have also received CCTV footage and questioned several hospital staff in their investigation.
“It was found that the suspect (employee) outsourcing and not medical staff. We are currently verifying all the details before arresting the suspect, ”continued Kindu.
The police added that at this time it was not feasible to record the victim’s statement because he was still using a ventilator.
“The board of doctors from the civilian hospital conducted a medical investigation on Wednesday (28/10/2020) and police protection has been provided to patients in the hospital,” said Gurugram Police Commissioner KK Rao.

Fortis Hospital said in a statement that the patient came to the hospital on 21 October 2020 with severe respiratory symptoms.
“He (the patient) was admitted to the ICU, and since the second day he has been using ventilator support. Six days after admission, the patient reported that he had been violated, “said a hospital statement.
“After the complaint, the police were immediately informed. The hospital is fully cooperating with the authorities and providing all information, “continued the hospital statement.
