Horror of World War III, China ‘Down the Mountain’

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaChina open voice about the military escalation that occurred between the NATO bloc led by the United States (US) and Russia in the territory of Ukraine. The country led by President Xi Jinping said that this problem must be resolved as soon as possible.

In a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that security issues involving Russia are very serious. He also asked the US not to increase its military dominance there.

“Foreign Minister Wang said regional security cannot be guaranteed by strengthening or even expanding the military bloc,” the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement quoted by AFP on Thursday (1/27/2022).

Tensions between NATO and Russia are still quite hot in the East Ukraine region. Both NATO and Russia are deploying sizeable military forces in the conflict-torn region.

This escalation peaked after several Ukrainian regions such as Crimea, Donbass and Donetsk were captured by pro-Kremlin separatist militia forces. This infuriated Kiev and called in NATO troops to help maintain security in the region.

NATO, which in fact is Russia’s defense rival in the European region, responded to this by deploying its combat fleet around the region. One of them is a sophisticated warship that was sent by the US, UK, and the Netherlands.

This also invited a strong reaction from Russia, which rejected the presence of the NATO armed forces. Moscow also mobilized large-scale troops around the territory of the country known as the European Bread Basket.

So far, the direction of the heated relations between these countries has not led to a certainty. Most recently, it was reported that Moscow and Kiev said they would abide by a ceasefire at the border. Even so, the threat of armed attacks in the future has not been mentioned with certainty.
