Five police officers from the Valence police station will be medalists, including the gold level for the police officer who, driving the unmarked vehicle of the staff of the Departmental Directorate of Public Security of Drôme, crashed into Gabriel Fortin’s car and thus stopped his murderous journey on the Mistral bridge. Seven more will receive a letter of congratulations. Four police officers from the Guilherand-Granges police station will be awarded the bronze medal.

To pay tribute to the Ardèche police, a ceremony is scheduled for March 26 at the Prefecture of Privas. During the same ceremony, a police officer today assigned to Privas, who was stationed in Romans-sur-Isère during the attack on April 4, 2020 which left two dead and five injured, will receive a letter of congratulations for act of courage and dedication. In the Drôme, the date of the ceremony has not yet been set. During this tribute, around ten national and municipal police officers from Romans-sur-Isère will also be honored for their intervention during the attack. They will be honored with the Homeland Security Medal, and a Medal for Act of Courage and Dedication.

Since January 30, Gabriel Fortin, an unemployed engineer of 45, domiciled in Nancy, single and childless, has been indicted for murder. He is now placed in the specially equipped hospital unit (UHSA) of Vinatier in Bron (Rhône).
