Hong Kong to Allow Guangdong Vehicles Southbound, Boosting Tourism & Economy – November Launch

Hong Kong, July 3, 2025 – In a landmark move to deepen integration with mainland China, Hong Kong will officially launch the “Guangdong Cars Go South” plan this november, allowing vehicles from Guangdong province to enter the city [[1]].This follows the recent allowance for Hong Kong private cars to travel northbound into Guangdong,creating a reciprocal cross-border vehicle scheme.Hong Kong’s Transport and Logistics Secretary announced the consensus reached with Guangdong authorities, outlining two options for Guangdong vehicles entering Hong Kong. Vehicles can utilize transfer parking lots at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port, or apply for a limited quota – initially 100 per day – for direct city access via the same bridge.Direct access permits will allow a temporary stay of three days, with authorities evaluating potential quota increases based on trial performance.
