The arrival of the Euro 5 emissions legislation has had important influences on the price lists of motorcycle manufacturers.
Many models have left the scene due to no longer fresh design engines and the manufacturers have focused more on the rationalization of the engines.

At Honda, for example the two-cylinder 1,084 cc launched with the Africa Twin went to motorize the custom 1100 Rebel and now pushes the new crossover NT1100.
Let’s see briefly its characteristics after the more detailed presentation a few days ago.

The in-line twin-cylinder, twin-shaft and eight-valve engine from 1.084 cc, is the same unit that equips the CRF1100L Africa Twin. The maximum power is 102 CV a 7.250 giri and the maximum torque is 104 Nm a 6.250 giri. The crankshaft has 270 ° timing.

The declared consumption, equal to 20 km/l in the medium cycle, they give a range of 400 km thanks to the 20-liter tank.

The fork Showa SFF-BP and shock absorber (with progressive articulation), are both adjustable in spring preload (hydraulic transmission with rear knob) and offer wheel travel of 150 mm. The light alloy spoke wheels are fitted with radial tires in the sizes 120/70-ZR17 e 180/55-ZR17.

The braking system counts on the front end radial mount calipers with four pistons on 310 mm discs, the rear disc is 256 mm. ABS is dual channel but not cornering type.

5 – And then there is the DCT

The new twin-cylinder engine brings the possibility of having, in addition to the normal six-speed manual gearbox, the double clutch transmission and automatic clutches of the system gears DCT which offers two distinct driving approaches: the automatic gearbox, with programmed shift patterns that constantly read vehicle speed, selected gear and engine rpm to decide when to shift; or the manual transmission (MT), to manually engage the gear using the paddles on the handlebar of the left block.

You can choose between two settings automatic gearbox: Drive for relaxed driving and lower fuel consumption, Sport for a more responsive ride. The mode Sport offers 3 levels: the first is the most contained, with gear changes at medium revs, while the third allows for a more aggressive driving style with gear changes at high revs. Level 2 is the intermediate option. The system saves the last choice entered and sets it to the next selection.
