Holidays 2020: Prices for foreign holidays will be lower?

According to experts from the tourism industry, the prices of foreign holidays will not be lower than last year. According to operators, this season definitely more customers will go on holidays with their own travels.

Prices of foreign holidays are unlikely to be lower than last year, because despite lower demand there will also be a lower supply of offers – assessed the tourist operators. They indicated that this season, definitely more customers are interested in self-transport holidays.

As Maciej Szczechura from Rainbow Tours told PAP, the demand for this year’s foreign holiday is just beginning, because just a few days ago the borders were opened. – This season, the destinations where you can fly are popular. For now, the list of open countries is limited to the European Union. There is Greece and mainly islands, Bulgaria, Croatia and countries closer to each other – he pointed out.

He added that there is less interest in Spain and the Canary Islands. – Well, what if someone would like to fly to the USA, for example, as it currently does not even have such a possibility – he noted.

According to Szczechura, at the moment, interest in traveling abroad does not exceed 30 percent. what was in 2019, but – as he noted – just three weeks ago, interest was at the level of 5 percent. – We estimate and hope that if this year’s July can be realized in 30 percent. last year’s result will be good, and August maybe 50% he pointed out. He added that the industry is counting on the effect of postponed holidays to September and October.

In his opinion, due to the fact that tour operators will be careful this year with regard to the amount of the offer, prices for foreign trips are unlikely to drop, because although there will be less demand, supply will not be high. – Prices this year will be rather comparable with those from last season – he pointed out. He added that “for sure” you will be able to hit the discount at the last minute, just before departure.

– At least in this first start-up period, it may happen that in some plane the seats are unfilled, so there will be great offers – added Szczechura.

According to Iraq’s Piotr Henicz, prices depend on the specific offer, some are comparable to those from before the pandemic, some are lower, but some are higher. – What will eventually be, will verify the market; we are in the process of launching further destinations and we conduct a flexible pricing policy – he pointed out.

He noted that since the announcement of the opening of borders and the resumption of departures, there has been an increase in interest in trips. – First of all, there are numerous inquiries from customers awaiting information regarding the resumption of departures. However, we hope that after communicating when and where exactly they can fly with us, the number of reservations will start to increase – he said.

He added that the company plans its first departures on July 3 to Greece in Zakynthos and to Bulgaria. – Most of the summer offer is on sale. We are currently planning to resume charter flights, including to Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Georgia, Egypt, Tunisia and Cyprus – he exchanged.

He pointed out that this year definitely more customers are interested in self-travel than a year ago. – It is in response to this great interest that we have prepared this year an extremely rich proposition for own travel, including to Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece and Lithuania – he said.

Jadwiga Emilewicz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development, announced on Friday that from July 1 this year. planes will be able to fly with full passengers already. She added that this applies to all flights: scheduled and charter.

Pursuant to the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 29 May 2020 on establishing certain restrictions, orders and bans in connection with the occurrence of the epidemic status “no more than half of the maximum number of seats for passengers specified in the documentation may be carried at the same time aircraft technical support “. This means that currently passengers can only occupy 50 percent. seats on the plane.

COMMENT: According to Anita Krusiec from Anos Travel
This season, the holiday offer in Poland is very popular. However, in the last few days we have been observing an increase in interest in foreign holidays. This market is just opening.

It is difficult to predict if prices will go down, they remain at a similar level compared to the previous season. Some directions may note a drop in prices, but we do not see such a trend except for a few organizers.
