Holiday bridge: 18 drivers are sanctioned every hour

The Traffic and Transport Police reported that in the run of this festive bridge of San Pedro and San Pablo, 1,420 drivers have been penalized for not respecting the isolation, which means that in prize money, 18 people are fined every hour in the national territory.

The sanction is imposed for traveling through places prohibited and restricted by the competent authority, and include a fine of close to one million pesos and the immobilization of the vehicle.

Likewise, the authorities reported that 483 vehicles have been immobilized for not being part of the exceptions stipulated in the presidential decree for the Obligatory preventive isolation.

It is worth mentioning that there are more than 1,000 control posts installed in different parts of the national territory, with nearly 9,000 uniforms of Transit, who will ensure compliance with the measures.

He President Iván Duque He called for this festive bridge to respect isolation and that citizens do not seek to leave, since “we are not on vacation,” while stressing that he gave the order to the National Police carry out controls on the roads, to prevent people from seeking to travel irresponsibly.

“This is not a festive bridge to go for a walk, much less to expose the virus to transit. We are clear about the guidelines and how a gradual recovery of productive life can be made, but we are all on alert, without letting our guard down and protecting ourselves ”.

In that order of ideas, Duque affirmed that although the National Government orders the measures, it is also the duty of all citizens to comply with them “with responsibility and with a citizen culture”.
