The first day patch for Hogwarts Legacy didn’t do wonders. Buyers are trying to fix the game themselves
Hogwarts Legacy on PC is surprisingly bad at times. Players are experiencing frame rate (FPS) drops and stuttering (“stuttering”, stuttering).
FriedBongWater collected a few solutions that can help fix Hogwarts Legacy working.
1.) In “AppDataLocalHogwarts LegacySavedConfigWindowsNoEditor» you need to find the Engine.ini file (it is recommended to make a backup copy).
Add the following* to the end of the file:
[SystemSettings]
r.bForceCPUAccessToGPUSkinVerts=True
r.GTSyncType=1
r.OneFrameThreadLag=1
r.FinishCurrentFrame=0
r.TextureStreaming=1
r.Streaming.PoolSize=3072
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1
[ConsoleVariables]
AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdates=1
AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesDuringGamethreadUpdates=1
AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesEditor=1
*Recommended values for r.Streaming.PoolSize:
- 6GB GPU memory – 2048
- 8 GB – 3072
- 12 GB+ – 4096-5120 (on a conditional RTX 4090, you can try to set even more).
2.) Disabling TextureStreaming (set r.TextureStreaming=0) also helped some.
3.) Can turn on hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
Solution for NVIDIA users: in the NVIDIA Control Panel, in the “Global Settings” section, set the shader cache size to 10 GB.
The proposed solutions do not always completely remove all the problems of Hogwarts Legacy, but still allow you to play with great comfort.
