Hofstra Women’s Golf Finishes 13th at Navy Fall Invitational
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Hofstra University women’s golf team concluded competition at the Navy Fall Invitational on Sunday, finishing 13th among 15 teams at the United States Naval Academy Golf Club. The Pride posted a second-round score of 337 (+49), bringing their total to 671 (+95) for the tournament.
This weekend’s event at the Naval Academy provided a challenging early-season test for the Pride, offering valuable competitive experience as they prepare for the remainder of their fall schedule. Individual performances highlighted Hofstra’s participation, with several players gaining crucial tournament play. The team will look to build on this experience at the upcoming UAlbany Great Danes Invitational.
Leading the way for Hofstra was Regina Cantu Chavez,who tied for 55th place with a two-round total of 165 (+21),following a second-day 81 (+9). Mari Rodriguez finished 60th overall at 167 (+23) after carding an 84 (+12) in the final round. Natalie Moody tied for 63rd at 170 (+26), posting an 86 (+14) on Sunday.Kaylie Porter and Sadie Anderson rounded out Hofstra’s scoring,tying for 68th at 175 (+31) and finishing 71st at 177 (+33),respectively.
Howard University’s Paris Fieldings claimed the individual championship with a score of 143 (-1). Stetson university secured the team title with a 597 (+21), followed by Bucknell, Howard, Navy, and Monmouth to complete the top five.
Hofstra will return to the course on October 12th, beginning play at the UAlbany Great danes invitational held at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, New York.
