The team of the Latvian “Optibet” hockey league (OHL) Hockey school “Riga” scored five goals in the first period on Tuesday and laid a solid foundation for success against “Prizma” / IHS.

“Rīga” won the “Prizma” / IHS with the guests 6: 3 (5: 2, 1: 0, 0: 1) and stopped the series of three lost games.
The result of the game was revealed by Roberts Priževoits in the third minute, but 35 seconds later Berts Rudzītis equalized. Daniels Mūrnieks scored the second goal of “Rīga” in the 11th minute, but Kristers Bormanis, playing in the minority, equalized the result ten seconds later. In the remaining time, only the representatives of “Rīga” scored the goal in the first third, with Ģirts Silkalns, Mūrnieks and Edvards Bergmanis standing out with precise broadcasts.
In the second period, the Rigans repeatedly failed to beat the home goalkeeper, but in the fourth minute, Pēteris Purmalis was on the rebound, the result was 6: 2. Meanwhile, in the second third, the householders did not know how to use the three consecutive numerical majority.
“Prizma” / IHS hockey player Artūrs Apfelbaums scored the last goal in this duel less than 12 minutes before the end of the game.
It has already been reported that in connection with four Covid-19 cases in the OHL team Daugavpils “Dinaburga” the next four units in the league have been canceled.
In addition to the postponed Saturday game on their field with “Mogo” / LSPA, the next four unit games will be transferred on their field on September 30 with “Olimp” / “Venta 2002” and on October 3 with “Zemgale” / LLU, as well as two away matches – On October 7 with “Liepāja” and on October 10 – with Hockey School “Rīga”.
Leading the tournament table with nine points in five matches is “Olimp” / “Venta 2002”, but with eight points is followed by “Zemgale” / LLU and “Liepāja”. “Mogo” / LSPA follows with six points in five fights, “Riga” Hockey School has one point less, while “Prizma” / IHS has reached three points. Daugavpils “Dinaburga” is still without points.
In the 2020/2021 season, OHL plays “Mogo” / LSPA, “Olimp” / “Venta 2002”, “Zemgale” / LLU, Hockey schools “Riga”, Daugavpils “Dinaburga”, “Prizma” / IHS and “Liepājas” teams.
Last season, eight teams played in the Latvian Super League, but in the 2020/21 season there will be one team less, because “Kurbads” will not play in the tournament.
The playoffs were not played last season, but “Olimp” was declared the winner of the local championship. The newcomer to the tournament won the decisive points after “Riga” did not come to the last match of the season with the “Kurbads” team.
With its success, the Olimp earned the OHL the opportunity to compete in the Continental Cup organized by the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), but the international competition was canceled.
