The U.S. National Institute of Health has announced that an experimental vaccine HVTN 702 for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has not passed clinical trials.

HVTN 702 vaccine was tested on a sample of 5 thousand inhabitants of South Africa. Some volunteers injected with an experimental vaccine, and some received a placebo. However, in both groups the level of HIV infection was approximately the same.
“The HIV vaccine is needed to overcome the pandemic, and we hoped that this vaccine would be effective. Unfortunately, this is not so, ”said Anthony Fosi, spokesman for the US National Institute of Health.
He added that scientists are now working on other ways to treat HIV.
