Bogor,Indonesia – Teh Bogor City Commission for AIDS (KPA) is launching a broadened initiative to combat HIV/AIDS,focusing on prevention, accessible healthcare, adn eliminating societal stigma. The effort comes as public health officials emphasize the importance of early detection and support for those living with HIV (ODHIV).
The KPA’s strategy centers around three key working groups: Promotion and Prevention, Health Services, and Advocacy and Partnership. These groups will collaborate to deliver thorough outreach, ensuring wider access to testing, treatment, and a supportive environment for all residents. This renewed focus addresses a critical public health need, aiming to curb new infections and improve the quality of life for individuals already affected by the virus.
currently, the KPA is actively implementing several key programs. These include HIV/AIDS education initiatives in junior and senior high schools, expanded public awareness campaigns utilizing the city’s interaction and information office (Diskominfo), and a important expansion of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) services. PrEP is now available at all Puskesmas (community health centers) throughout Bogor City. Additionally, Post-Exposure prophylaxis (PdP) services are being broadened through partnerships with private clinics and hospitals.
A vital component of the KPA’s approach involves close collaboration with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to conduct outreach and provide assistance to ODHIV. This partnership aims to reach vulnerable populations and ensure they receive the necessary support and care.
The Bogor City KPA is urging all community members to overcome fears surrounding HIV testing, reject discrimination against ODHIV, and actively participate in prevention efforts. Officials emphasize that HIV is preventable, and with proper support, individuals living with HIV can lead healthy and productive lives. The KPA’s ultimate goal is to establish Bogor City as a caring and responsive community prepared to confront the challenges of HIV/AIDS.
