HIV/AIDS is evenly distributed in 17 sub-districts, here are the data

KARANGANYAR – The spread of HIV/AIDS occurs in all sub-districts in Karanganyar Regency. Each sub-district has a fairly high risk of transmission if not anticipated.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Karanganyar Health Service (Dinkes), Sri Winarno revealed, HIV/AIDS cases were spread in 135 villages in 17 sub-districts. The most widespread distribution in the Districts of Tasikmadu, Kebakkramat, Mojogedang, and Jumantono.

“As for the graph of cases, since 2018 it has decreased. Maybe one of them is because of Covid-19 and there are no more tests in each puskesmas,” said Sri Winarno when giving material at the HIV/AIDS socialization commemorating World AIDS Day.

If categorized in the age group there are 17 toddlers who are positive for AIDS. Then seven people aged 5-14 years, 77 people aged 15-19 years, 186 people aged 20-24 years, and 50 years and above there are 158 people.

“Most of them are aged 25-49 years, that is the productive age,” he said.

Regarding transmission among children, there are two possibilities. First contracted from parents, second because of behavior. The investigation continues because 119 people have stopped checking themselves regularly. Currently, there are 16 puskesmas serving HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment (PdP) facilities.

The Regent of Karanganyar, Juliyatmono, said that there were indeed many people living with HIV/AIDS in Karanganyar Regency and not enough. He hoped that the participation of community leaders and religious leaders in the region along with health service officers would provide good education.

“It’s more about deviant behavior and this behavior must be addressed. Treatment is indeed a factor for the umpteenth time. What is clear and most important is his behavior first,” said the regent. (rud/mg2/mg6/adi)
