Every 7th of July is celebrated as the day of chocolate world or world chocolate day. The observance of World Chocolate Day began in 2009, and some suggest July 7 in particular celebrates the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550.

History of World Chocolate Day

Cocoa contained in chocolate consists of flavonoids that have antioxidants and can suppress the oxidation of low density lipoproteins (‘bad’ cholesterol) which can cause heart disease and stroke.

Chocolate has been shown to lower blood pressure, lower insulin resistance and prevent blood clots.
Dark chocolate has also been shown to prevent complications of pregnancy problems. A study shows that theobromine, a chemical found in chocolate, may prevent pre-eclampsia, a major complication of pregnancy.

Pre-eclampsia causes an increase in blood pressure in pregnant women. But, by eating chocolate, will help reduce the risk as much as 69 percent.
