Hispanic from Texas says goodbye to his seven children before dying of COVID-19 in heartbreaking video call

More than 44,000 people have died in Texas from COVID-19.

HOUSTON – Two weeks before dying and struggling to breathe, Charles “Charley” Torres said goodbye forever to his three sons and four stepchildren from a hospital bed where he was connected to various devices and with an oxygen mask on his face.

“I love them with all my heart. I love you very much, ”said Torres, 35, during the heartbreaking video call revealed by the ABC local channel. “Take care of your mother. I love them”.

At times, Torres’ family believed that he would win the battle against COVID-19, but 30 days after being admitted to a hospital on January 15, he died.

Torres’ death was on the Day of Love and Friendship. The emotional message of “Charley” for their children can be seen in the following link.

“He entered (the hospital) and never came out again,” said Alex Torres, father of the victim in an interview with ABC 13 Houston.

Torres was from Manvel, Texas, and was a volunteer firefighter with the Manvel Fire Department. A passionate about motorcycles, Torres was president of the Austin Diocese Knights on Bikes motorcycle group, which helps in the community with different activities to raise funds for the benefit of people in need.

“He was always a server. He has done so many things for many people “said Joanie Torres, mother of the deceased.

“We’ve always said, Charley’s heart is bigger than his body, he was just that kind of person,” added the mother.

Charley was most recently working for FEMA as an Assistant Disaster Specialist.

His most important priority was always his family, according to the parents. A good husband to his wife Ana and a good father to their children and stepchildren. Three of the children are under the age of six.

Torres is one of more than 44,000 Texans who have died of COVID-19, according to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

Her parents said Torres had some pre-existing conditions.

“God has given him a little rest for now, but he must have something greater to do,” concluded the father.
