JOMBANG, KOMPAS.com – Imam Suhrowardi or Ardi (22), a resident of Gedangan Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency, East Java, died while attending a reception for the 1st century of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Sidoarjo, Tuesday (7/2/2023).
Before he died, it was known that the young man had performed the Zuhr prayer as an imam at a prayer room in the Tanggulangin area, Sidoarjo.

Ardi is the second child of four siblings. After his mother died two years ago, Ardi lived with Mustain, his father, and three of his siblings in Mojogeneng Hamlet, Gedangan Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang.
Say goodbye to attend the 1 Century NU event
Mustain, Ardi’s father said, on Monday (6/2/2023) evening, his second child said goodbye to attend the 1 Century NU reception at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium.
Knowing that his son had often taken part in activities within NU, Mustain allowed his son to go to Sidoarjo.

“He said goodbye to the Harlah NU event in Sidoarjo. I allow it, because his son often participates in activities,” said Ardi when met by Kompas.com, at the funeral home, Tuesday (7/2/2023) evening.
According to Mustain, Ardi expressed his desire to attend the 1st Century NU reception two days earlier. Then before leaving, Ardi also said goodbye to his father.
Borrowed his father’s skullcap
Mustain admitted that his son had borrowed the cap he usually wore to attend the 1st Century NU reception in Sidoarjo.
“It’s not usually like that, when he said goodbye to leave, he said he wanted to wear your father’s skullcap. Yes, I borrowed it and he brought it. He went to the Harlah NU event wearing my cap,” said Mustain.
Mustain and his family received news of Ardi’s death on Tuesday afternoon, around 14.00 WIB.
Even though he was shocked, the father of four accepted Ardi’s departure.
“I am sincere, God willing, this is the best way for my child. But earlier I was really surprised because it was so sudden, yesterday I said goodbye, then I got information that my child had died,” he said.

Mustain added, Ardi had a history of heart failure.
The health condition he had experienced since childhood was suspected to be the cause of Ardi’s death while attending a 1st century NU reception in Sidoarjo.
One thing Mustain remembers is Ardi’s desire to become an entrepreneur. Ardi’s determination was initiated 1.5 years ago, after deciding to drop out of college.
“I studied at UINSA (UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya), but only up to semester 5. Not continued and he chose to work. His dream has always been to have an independent business,” said Mustain.

Active in NU
During his lifetime, Ardi studied at MI Najatuddaroini Gedangan Village, MTSN Tanjunganom, Diwek District, then at SMAN Bareng, continued to study at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya until semester 5.
Habib Ghofir, Chairman of the Deputy Branch Council (MWC) of NU in Mojowarno District, revealed that Ardi was an NU member who participated in celebrating the 1st Century NU reception in Sidoarjo.
The young man who was born on January 1, 2001 left independently for Sidoarjo. He and his friend left on a motorbike and arrived in Sidoarjo, Monday (6/2/2023) evening.
Ardi, said Habib, was active as a member and administrator of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU).
In one of the NU Autonomous Bodies, the deceased had served as an administrator at the branch or village level as well as an administrator at the sub-district or sub-branch level.
“He is the administrator of PAC IPNU, Mojowarno District. Active in IPNU since he was a branch administrator, he is indeed a young NU cadre,” Habib told Kompas.com, at the funeral home, Tuesday evening.
Previously it was reported, a participant in the One Century Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) reception at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium, from Jombang Regency, East Java, died, Tuesday (7/2/2023).

The participant who died was named Imam Suhrowardi alias Ardi, a resident of Gedangan Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency, East Java.
On Tuesday morning at around 04.00 WIB, Ardi and his friends came to the Sidoarjo Delta Gelora Stadium. However, before 06.00 WIB, Ardi asked his friend to leave the stadium because he was not feeling well.
Ardi then rested at a friend’s relative’s house in the Tanggulangin area, Sidoarjo. When entering the midday prayer time, Ardi performs the prayer and becomes the priest
When entering the fourth cycle, Ardi accelerated the prayer movement. Right after completing the fourth cycle, Ardi fell limp.
Ardi was then taken to a nearby clinic, where he was declared dead after undergoing treatment.
