High school in Bladel is temporarily closed after 61 positive tests | NOW

The Pius X College in Bladel, North Brabant, will temporarily close its doors after 48 students have tested positive for the corona virus. Thirteen positive tests have been reported among the staff, it reports Brabants Dagblad Tuesday.

The school will close for thirteen days from Thursday. “I think it’s a tough thing to do, but actually not. It’s about the health of all of us,” says rector-director Maarten de Veth in conversation with the newspaper. According to him, the number of positive tests is still increasing.

The GGD does not do anything because of the crowds source and contact research in the region, making it unclear where the infections take place. However, an analysis by the school itself shows that it is “not impossible” that the virus is also transmitted within the school walls.

The Pius-X-College is one of the largest secondary schools in the region with 2,265 students. During the closing period, the school will switch to online education.
