Hertha BSC: Arne Friedrich to become sports director – Bundesliga

When Jürgen Klinsmann (55) joined Hertha four months ago as an emergency trainer (he has long since been gone), he brought Arne Friedrich (40) as a so-called “performance manager”.

Since then, people have often pondered this term, even smirked. That will change soon!

The ex-international (82 caps), who has so far only made an agreement with Hertha by the end of the season, will soon get a contract and a title.

Hertha manager Michael Preetz (52): “We will soon be talking to Arne about the expiring agreement. We are very happy with his work, we would like to continue with Arne and move him to another position. ”

BILD learned: Friedrich should be promoted to sports director!

Hertha may be planning a construct such as that made by Bayer Leverkusen, where ex-professional Simon Rolfes (38) works as a sports director with the team every day. Rolfes is the link between the team and Rudi Völler (59), the managing director of sport.

At Hertha, Preetz is the managing director of sport and says: “I have a very close exchange with Arne. He’s on the training ground with us every day and should act as a link between the team cabin and club management. ”

And what did Friedrich do as a performance manager?

The Berlin ex-captain (at Hertha from 2002 to 2010) recently trained, among other things. the defenders and had one-on-one talks to get even more performance out of every professional through personal goals.

As sports director, Friedrich would be given even more responsibility!
