Within a new post published on the PlayStation Blog, many faces of the gaming industry have revealed their most anticipated games for “2021 and beyond”. Among them, there is also Hermen Hulst, former managing director at Guerrilla Games among the authors of Horizon: Zero Dawn, and now head of PlayStation Studios.
The PlayStation leader stated that God of War 2 (unofficially subtitled Ragnarok) is the game that most awaits. During the dark summer, Santa Monica Studios announced the title through a short teaser of the sequel to the Nordic adventure of Kratos released in 2018 capable of restoring luster to the series and surprising fans with a playful structure unpublished until then for the franchise.
“Playing God of War in 2018 was a great experience for me“were his words. “The series has always had incredible action and combat, but the emotional depth with which Santa Monica has characterized Kratos’ story as a father it was truly memorable, especially since my son was just a little bit older than Atreus when I played it.
So seeing the reaction of players to that little teaser we presented at PlayStation Showcase last September was very emotional. I can’t wait for people to see what Santa Monica is doing“.
It is currently unclear whether Sony will publish God of War 2 as an exclusive PlayStation 5 or if instead it will arrive on the market as a cross-gen title also on PlayStation 4, exactly as it will happen in the case of Horizon: Zero Dawn by Guerrilla. Jim Ryan has refused to comment on this in recent weeks, and we just have to wait until Santa Monica is ready to reveal more details about his ambitious project and, above all, show it in action for the first time.
