Herford EV overrun Hanover Indians with record result

Reading time: approx. 5 minutes

Under normal circumstances, the result in Mellendorf between the Scorpions and Herne would have been analyzed first, but it is literally pushed aside by the events in Herford. The newcomer literally chased the potential play-off candidate Hannover Indians 8-0 into the cabin and clearly indicated that the team is a hot pre-play-off candidate in the Oberliga Nord.

On the other hand, there will certainly have been heated discussions at the weekend, because with such a performance the Indians are only outsiders against Erfurt on Sunday. The Scorpions lost 0.04 points against the Tilburg team through their extra time, but are still far ahead. Halle didn’t catch up with Tilburg, but will have been happy about the defeats of the Crocodiles and Indians, as the lead was increased to 0.25 and 0.3 points respectively. Herne did not catch up against Leipzig, Erfurt and Diez-Limburg extended their lead over Krefeld. Herford overtook Rostock with his victory, but is still 0.22 points behind Krefeld.

Tilburg Trappers – Hammer Eisbären 7: 3 (0: 1, 3: 1, 4: 1)

The Trappers are no longer winning at home as easily as in previous years. Even the bottom of the table from Hamm made life difficult for the Dutch and they were only able to finally win the game in the third third, although the result was a bit too high. The start of the game was already exceptional. Milan Svarc (3rd) used a power play to guide the guests and the Trappers tried with a lot of struggle and toughness to force the equalizer in the same third, but this venture went wrong. Already the first attack of the Trappers in the 21st minute brought the equalizer by Bison Bartek, but the best hammer striker, Milan Svarc (24th) managed the renewed guest leadership shortly afterwards. It stayed that way until the 36th minute, then the Trappers struck. Kevin Bruijsten and Jonne de Bonth turned the result around with a one-two punch in just 43 seconds. Tilburg striker Max Hermens made his appearance in the third period. Personally, he increased to 5: 2 in the 46th and 47th minutes. When in the 49th minute de Bonth got a fiver plus playing time after a knee check, the hammer could have caught up again, but Gianluca Balla only scored one goal to make it 3: 5 (54th). Now the polar bears resigned and Delany Hessels (58th) and Reno de Hondt (59th) scored 7: 3 in the end.

Rostock Piranhas – Black Dragons Erfurt 3:5 (2:2, 0:1, 1:2)

In an even game, Erfurt remained the slightly happier winners because they simply made better use of their numerous chances. Great in the first third: four goals and not a single penalty. August von Ungern-Sternberg (8th) and Matthew Pistilli (18th) met for Rostock, Alexander Spister (9th) and Arnoldas Bosas (12th) for Erfurt. The same in the second third. Again both representations got by without penalty and this time only one goal was scored by Alexander Spister (26th). Felix Schümann (48th) increased to 4: 2 for the black dragons and then it was time in the 53rd minute: The first penalty time of the game. The Erfurt Maurice Keil had to go and Thomas Voronow (54th) used that to the connection gate. In the 58th minute Enzo Herrschaft made it 5: 3 for the guests and it stayed that way, despite the removal of Rostock’s keeper Leon Meder.

Saale Bulls Halle – Icefighters Leipzig 4: 3 (1: 0, 0: 2, 2: 1, 1: 0) nP

A strong game by both teams, which in the end went a little happily to the Bulls. The Icefighters had to touch their own nose after the final siren, because with a shot ratio of 45:34, three points should actually be in it. So it went after goals from Tatu Vihavainen (16th), Michal Schön (46th) and Leon Fern (47th) for Halle, as well as Robin Slanina (36th), Michal Velecky (37th) and Hubert Berger (49th) into the penalty shootout, where Tatu Vihavainen sank the decisive penalty for Halle.

Hannover Scorpions – Herner EV 6: 5 (3: 0, 2: 3, 0: 2, 1: 0) nV

The game had some similarities to the first game in November, in which the Scorpions suffered the first of only two defeats so far. At that time, the Hernians took a 4-0 lead, this time the hosts 3-0, although the Hernians put some pressure on and the Scorpions were happy to have an amazingly secure keeper between the posts in Brett Jaeger. After Andre Reiss (7th) scored 1-0, Mario Valery Trabucco (16th) and Christoph Koziol (20th) increased to 3-0. Then the race to catch up began in Herne. In a game that was unfortunately also nickely from the 30th minute on, Nils Liesegang (29th) scored 1: 3. Fedor Kolupaylo (31st) brought the Scorpions back into the lead with three goals with a 4-1 win, but only a minute later Colton Kehler made the Herner 2: 4 and the Canadian also marked the 3: 4 in the majority two minutes before the second siren . Before it went into the locker room, however, Robert Peleikis (40th), also in the majority, scored the 5: 3. In the last third two more power plays brought two goals. Christoph Ziolkowski (47th) scored to 4: 5 and Richard Mueller (59th) to equalize. Maybe the race to catch up had cost too much energy, because in overtime it only took 37 seconds to make it 6: 5. Mario Valery Trabucco scored the 6: 5 and thus the decision in favor of the championship leader.

EG Diez-Limburg – Crocodiles Hamburg 3: 2 (2: 0, 0: 2, 1: 0)

A magic start by Diezer quickly brought the Rockets 2-0 up. The goal guarantors Kyle Brothers (5th) and Thomas Matheson (8th), the latter in the majority, made sure of that. In the second third Hamburg came back powerfully, settled in places in the Diezer half and came through their German-Pole Adam Domogalla (28th, 36th), who scored his first goals in ten weeks, to equalize. The Crocodiles also set the tone in the third third, but Tim Marek (55th) knew how to exploit a confusing action in front of the goal of Hamburg keeper Kai Kristian with this victory goal from Diezer.

Herforder EV – Hannover Indians 8:0 (6:0, 2:0, 0:0)

There are games that go down in history. This game was one of those, because some will rave about this game for years to come, especially the first third, while others will think back to the “Black Friday in Herford” with a shudder. One can imagine that the HEV has never defeated a team from the horse tower so high. The previous record dates back to February 21, 1999 (5: 3) and March 2, 2001 (6: 4) and was thus pulverized. The Indians conceded their last 0: 8 on November 24, 1995, still in the DEL, at the Düsseldorfer EG. From the ECH point of view, a 0: 6 in the first third is even longer. The last time the EHC Essen-West was in Essen was overrun on October 20, 1989.

Yesterday, Friday, the Herford team achieved this through Emil Lessard (3rd), Christophe Lalonde (4th, 12th), Philipp Brinkmann (13th), Ralf Rinke (13th, 16th). In the second third, when the Indians exchanged keeper Lukas Schaffrath for David Zabolotny in the 13th minute, the world looked a bit calmer for the guests, and yet they conceded two more goals. Lasse Bödefeld (34th) and Tim Krüger (35th) increased to an unbelievable 8: 0.
