Here’s Tips for Avoiding Stress with Food: Okezone Lifestyle

The stress that most people experience today is due to different activity times and routines, because most of them have to be at home to prevent transmission of the Covid-19 virus which is currently still endemic.

Senior Director, Worldwide Nutrition Education and Training, Herbalife Nutrition, Susan Bowerman said, the body’s natural response to stress makes us more active and alert. But when this stress response is activated continuously, it can overload the immune system, making it more difficult for the body to ward off disease.

“Indeed, it is easier said than done. Because stress can also cause fatigue and depression. If so an easy escape is to eat,” he said in the official statement that Okezone received, Tuesday (29/09/2020).

He added, at this time, it would be better if people began to think about changing a diet that is fast and comfortable to consume. Often loaded with fat, salt and sugar makes a healthy diet. Caffeine can also interfere with your sleep hours.

“Keep in mind that overeating can cause weight gain which can lead to psychological stress and end up eating more,” he explained.

Well, some of the things below can help you to improve yourself from stress.

1. Eat a balanced diet

Try to include some lean protein, such as poultry (chicken and duck), eggs, low-fat dairy products, lean meat, fish, nuts or soy.

Protein intake can make the body more energized and improve mentally. Supplement your diet with fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

2. Eat regularly and don’t skip meals

When you’re stressed, it’s easy to put off eating, even skip it altogether. As a result, the energy level will decrease, and you will choose to eat snacks or snacks.
