Here is the revamped Grand Theft Auto trilogy

After a bunch of leaks in recent months has Rockstar has now unveiled the Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. This package contains refurbished versions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

The package comes later this year for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC (via Rockstar Games Launcher), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S. In addition, there will be mobile variants for iOS and Android in 2022. You can see a short advertising trailer above.

With this trilogy package, the goal is to release the three aging games in a new guise, and Rockstar says that both graphic improvements and adjustments to make the games more modern are in place. Nevertheless, it seems as if the main basis during the games is left untouched, and the games will thus retain most of the old.

No screenshots were released in tandem with the announcement, so we have to wait a bit longer to see what is actually new here.

Removes old versions from stores

As the name suggests, Rockstar sees the refurbished collection package as the definitive version of the games. Therefore, they will already next week start removing the existing versions of the games from digital stores. If you already own the old versions of the games on stores like Steam or GOG, you will still be able to download and play them, but it will not be possible to buy them anymore.

In October, it is exactly 20 years since Grand Theft Auto 3 took the series into 3 dimensions, thus laying much of the foundation for games with large open worlds. The game first appeared on PlayStation 2, and was followed by two more games: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2004. All three games became critics and audience favorites.
