here is the new Electric version

SELLS WELL – Do not think that the Hyundai Kona Electric is marginal in the range of the small crossover in fact, since 2018, 120,000 have been delivered (of which 53,000 in Europe). To keep up with the increasingly fierce competition, the electric Kona is now renewed, with a restyling that affects both technology and aesthetics.

A “CLEANER” SNOUT – Observing the renewed Hyundai Kona Electric you can immediately notice the “smooth” front, ie without the classic grille, new LED daytime running lights, and the thin full LED headlights that extend towards the side of the car connecting to the wheel arches. The vertical slits are also new, positioned before the wheel arches, and introduced to improve turbulence in the wheel area. The rear LED lights recall the shape of the front lights. The aesthetic innovations increase the length of the car by 4 cm, which reaches 421 in total.

NEW IN THE CABIN – Also for the interior of the Hyundai Kona Electric the changes are quite noticeable. The digital instrument panel projected on an 8 or 10.25 “screen (optional) is new, as is the Avn (Audio Video Navigation) multimedia system which can count on a 10.25” touch screen and compatibility with Android Wireless Auto and Apple Car Play. The presence of Bluelink services ensures remote control of the car through your smartphone (among other things, it makes it possible to check the charging status and the place where it is parked).

TWO VERSIONS – As previously the new Hyundai Kona Electric is available in versions: the Long Range, with a 64 kWh battery, which ensures a range of 484 km, and an engine with 204 HP of power and 395 Nm of torque (ensure 0-100 km / h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 167 km / h), and the Standard equipped with a 39.2 kWh battery, which guarantees a range of 305 km, and a 136 hp engine (0-100 km / h in 9.9 seconds and top speed of 155 km / h). On both versions the user can adjust the regenerative braking according to their preferences, choosing between different intensity levels (you can even stop the car without intervening on the brakes).

THE RECHARGE – To fill up the Hyundai Kona Electric it is possible to take advantage of the 7.2 or 10.5 kW on-board charger (optional), which allow to take advantage of three-phase AC (alternating current) charging columns or compatible wall-boxes, and fast charging columns up to a power of 100 kW, which allow you to go from 0 to 80% in 47 minutes for the version with a 39.2 kWh battery and 64 for the version with a 64 kWh accumulator. Using alternating current and the 10.5 kW internal charger the times are extended: 6 hours and 50 minutes to go from 10 to 100% on the Long Range (9 hours and 15 with the 7.2 kW charger) and 4 hours and 20 minutes for the Standard Range (6 hours with the 7.2 kW charger). With a domestic socket the times are even longer reaching 17 hours for the Standard and 28 for the Long Range.

DRIVING AID – The Hyundai Kona Electric can benefit from a substantial update of the driving aid allocation. The adaptive cruise control now also manages to stop and restart the car automatically (Stop & go function), while the blind spot sensors activate the brakes if you risk cutting off another vehicle that is overtaking us. It improves the automatic emergency braking, now also able to detect pedestrians and cyclists, to which is also added the system that warns and stops the car if, when exiting a comb parking or a driveway in the “rear”, there is a risk impact with a passing vehicle.
