Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show or GIIAS 2022 will be officially opened today, Thursday (11/8). Dozens of new cars will be introduced for the first time, many of which are electrified vehicles.
GIIAS 2022 will again be held at ICE, BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, on August 11-21, 2022. From the leaks that have been announced some time ago, at least 30 new vehicles will be released at this largest automotive exhibition in Indonesia.
In the midst of the electric vehicle trend, GIIAS 2022 carries the theme “The Future is Bright”. Several electric vehicles will indeed appear at GIIAS this year.

One that is still hotly debated is Wuling Air ev. Assembled in Cikarang, this mini electric car has a price tag of between IDR 250 million and IDR 300 million.
After Hyundai released the Ioniq 5 a few months ago, its Korean sibling, Kia, didn’t want to be left behind. Kia will reportedly introduce the Kia EV6. In addition there are also Sorento Hybrid and Carens.
The most eagerly awaited could be an electric vehicle from Toyota. As a market leader in Indonesia, Toyota does not yet have an EV vehicle. After making a scene by bringing an electric Innova at IIMS, it’s worth waiting for Toyota’s breakthrough at GIIAS this time.
Lexus, Morris Garage, and Isuzu will also introduce electrified vehicles. However, it is not known for sure what model will be released, except for Isuzu with its electric elf truck.
Hyundai is sure to launch the Stargazer to the public. The low MPV car competitor to the Avanza-Xpander was only released to the media. It’s interesting to see how popular the Stargazer will be at GIIAS 2022 later.
Suzuki will introduce their tiny SUV, the S-Presso. Meanwhile, Nissan will try to challenge the Pajero Sport and Fortuner duo through the launch of the latest Nissan Terra. Reportedly Subaru will also introduce their latest compact SUV here
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi will bring the Xpander AP4 with a new look. Meanwhile, another model that will be released is the New Xpander Cross which will have a new exterior and a number of modern features, such as wireless charging.
There are a total of 25 passenger vehicle brands participating in GIIAS 2022, namely Audi, BMW, Chery, Nissan, Daihatsu, DFSK, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, KIA, Lexus, Mazda, Toyota, MG, Mini, Mitsubishi Motors, Porsche, Subaru, Suzuki, Volkswagen, Wuling, as well as commercial vehicles such as Hino, Isuzu, Fuso, and UD Trucks.
Meanwhile, from industrial vehicles, there are more than 100 supporting brands. These include the Adiputro, Laksana, and Tentrem bodybuilding industries. While the two wheels include the Alva, Astra Honda Motor, Benelli, CF Moto, Keeway, Pacific Bike, Segway, Selis, SM Motor, SYM, and Wmoto brands.
