JAKARTA – Apple released a number of products during 2020, from laptops to headphones. Some of these products are considered attractive, but some are unattractive and considered a failure. The Corona pandemic has also had an impact on the launch of Apple products, such as something that had to be delayed due to production problems, which was hampered because a number of areas experienced a lockdown.
But apart from that, here are some interesting and unattractive products from Apple during 2020. iPhone SE 2020 was released in April 2020, and you could say this is a successful product. The key to that success is price, which is only USD 400 or so the cheapest iPhone.
This phone uses many components from the iPhone 8, but with the camera from the iPhone XR, and the SoC A13 Bionic from the iPhone 11. Since its release, the sales of this iPhone have only lost to the iPhone 11.
iPhone 12
It is also an interesting product, and is predicted to be successful. The iPhone 12 is the successor to the iPhone 11, Apple’s best-selling phone since its launch in September 2019.
What makes the iPhone 12 interesting? First, the screen uses an OLED panel, up from the IPS used in the iPhone 11. The body is also slimmer with a thinner bezel. What else? New camera, new colors, new design, and the price is the same as the iPhone 11 when it was released.

Unlike the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro looks unattractive from several sides. At first glance, the differences between the two are 2GB more RAM, an additional camera (2x telephoto), a more luxurious and sturdy body (aluminum vs stainless steel), and more storage for the cheapest variant.
However, the price is clearly more expensive. Abroad, the price is around USD 200. Meanwhile in Indonesia, the price difference between the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro is around IDR 2 million. This is what makes the iPhone 12 Pro less attractive than the iPhone 12.
iPhone 12 Pro Max
Unlike the regular Pro variant, the iPhone 12 Pro Max offers a number of things that make it more attractive than the iPhone 12. Like a much larger camera sensor, shift sensor stabilization is a rarity in the world of cellphone cameras.
The telephoto lens also offers a slightly longer zoom, and the largest screen size among other iPhone 12 variants. So, even though the price is much more expensive, at least the specifications offered are quite comparable.
Apple MagSafe
Yes, Apple has revived MagSafe again, but not as a charger in the MacBook line but an accessory system on the iPhone. On paper this system is indeed interesting. However, in a number of reviews, it seems that the magnets used are not strong enough to maintain their position on the back of the cellphone. Alias, the accessories that are installed will easily come off.
Apple Watch SE
Not only on the iPhone, Apple also released the Apple Watch with the SE variant, which has most of the features in the Series 6, but at a much cheaper price. Starting from USD 280.
iPhone 12 Mini
It’s also a really interesting product, at least for those who miss a small screen phone. Apart from the smaller screen size (and battery), there is no difference in specifications between the iPhone 12 Mini compared to other iPhone 12 variants.
With the cheapest price compared to other variants, the iPhone 12 Mini is even more attractive.
AirPods Max
Apple has finally released an over-ear version of the AirPods, accompanying the AirPods and AirPods Pro. The design is attractive, the sound quality is reportedly good. However, the price of these wireless headphones is USD 550.
With that kind of money, you can almost buy a Sony WH1000XM4 and Bose 700 at once. Yes, those are two wireless noise canceling headphones that many have cited as the best out there.
In addition, the AirPods Max are non-foldable, their weight is heavy because they are made of aluminum, and their case is very impractical.
Apple M1
Apple M1 is the first Apple Silicon chip. Available on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini. Basically this is the A14 Bionic chip that is on the iPad Air and iPhone 12, but the version is faster, and is used in computer form.
The performance is much improved compared to the Intel processors used in the previous Mac. Apart from being faster, the efficiency in using the power is also extraordinary.
One thing that is still waiting to be proven is when the developers will update the application to run natively on M1. Even now, applications for older Macs can still run with Rosetta 2.
