The number of new cases of Covid-19 in Belgium stood at 605.7 per day on average during the seven-day period from August 4 to 10, which represents a 9% increase compared to the period of the previous seven days, according to the latest figures updated Friday morning by Sciensano. The increase in the number of new cases seems to be stabilizing for a few days and even slowing down somewhat since it was + 13% Thursday compared to the previous seven-day period, + 12% Wednesday, + 11% Tuesday and +16 % Monday.
In total, 76,191 new coronavirus contaminations have been observed in Belgium since the start of the epidemic, or 544 more than the total arrested on Thursday. The real number of contaminations in our country is however much higher, because only the most serious cases were detected at the beginning of the epidemic.
In many municipalities, the number of Covid-19 cases continues to climb. And in some of them, the famous “alarm threshold” (20 new contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants in one week) has even been reached or exceeded. Be careful therefore that this “alarm threshold” should be put into perspective in some municipalities, the smallest of them can indeed quickly exceed it with a single case.
This Friday August 14, 228 municipalities exceeded the “alarm threshold” according to the latest consolidated data from Sciensano. Check in the map below if your municipality is one of them (the “Cumulative Incidence” will therefore be greater than or equal to 20).
In this map, you can also find the number of cases over the last 7 days and the number of days in a row since which (s) your municipality has noticed an increase in new cases (“number of day (s) with increase ”). Finally, the last data (“Since when do we observe at least one case per day”) indicates for how many consecutive days at least one case has been reported in the municipality.
Finally, here is the map and the table showing the number of cases reported in your town yesterday, since the start of phase 3 of deconfinement (June 8) and since the start of the epidemic.
