Hepatitis A Exposure: Vancouver Coastal Health Issues Salad Warning

Vancouver ​Coastal Health⁤ (VCH) issued‌ two public health notifications on​ Thursday, August 28, 2025, concerning potential Hepatitis⁢ A exposure. ​The alerts⁢ relate to separate incidents: one involving a possible exposure at the Sea Monkey Coffee food⁣ truck and another concerning a case in Gibsons,⁣ British ​Columbia.

The‌ first notification details potential exposure from ⁤food served at the Sea Monkey coffee truck, wich operated⁢ at the Sunday Cider ⁢bar between August 1 and August 25, 2025. ​The second alert, previously reported by Chek News, focuses on a Hepatitis A case‌ identified ‌in Gibsons. While the risk of transmission is ⁤considered low ⁢in both situations,‌ VCH‌ is urging individuals who consumed food from the truck‍ or ​may have been⁣ exposed ⁢to ⁢monitor for symptoms.

Symptoms of Hepatitis A​ include fatigue,decreased⁢ appetite,unexplained weight loss,discomfort under the right rib cage,muscle aches,and jaundice‌ – a condition causing yellowing of ‍the⁢ skin or eyes. VCH states that a vaccine is available and can provide protection against infection ⁣within​ two‌ weeks of exposure.
