Heat wave in the Ländle: Freiburg threatens over 38 degrees Regional

Freiburg – The Breisgau is mostly happy because it is the warmest area in Germany. Last week, however, the people of Breisgau sweated heavily at over 35 degrees.

The Bächle in the center of Freiburg have already dried up. It’s supposed to get worse next week. “It’s hot and it’s getting hotter,” said a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) on Sunday. The hottest day of the week is Tuesday with up to 38 degrees in the Kurpfalz and Kaiserstuhl.

Temperatures above 30 degrees are also expected in the other parts of Baden-Württemberg. Consequence: High risk of forest fires and high UV and thermal stress.

The hot days end with storms. Local heavy showers and severe thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday. According to the DWD, however, these bring little cooling. In the Stuttgart area, temperatures could also be 32 degrees towards the end of the week.
