Heat and weather at the weekend: the community is running out of water

Wild boar steals laptop from a man on the lake – he runs after him naked

Curious wild boars meet bathers at Berlin’s Teufelssee in Grunewald: pictures on the Facebook social network show a naked man chasing a female wild boar – a brook – and two young animals in a meadow.

The animal, which was probably looking for food, has a yellow bag in its mouth that belonged to the man – a laptop is said to have been in it. This is written by a Facebook user who shared the pictures and, according to her own information, had obtained the permission of the naked hunter. He laughed out loud when she showed him the photos. Other bathers followed the scene with amazed and laughing faces, as can be seen on Facebook.

Derk Ehlert from the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment spoke on Friday about an interesting encounter that was not always so strange in the capital, but always. Since the popular bathing place on Teufelssee is located in the middle of the forest, it is not surprising that people and animals meet there. “When people bring food to the lake, the animals can smell it from 1000 meters away.”

The wild boar is probably used to finding food in plastic bags. Since many people left their leftovers in the evening, foxes, raccoons, martens and badgers would come ashore to forage in the dark, Ehlert said. And in summer such an encounter is not unlikely even before dark: the animals know that there is more food to be tapped in the early evening hours. The young animals (youngsters) were presumably there to learn how to forage.

The encounter was not entirely safe for the naked man. Because a threatened wild boar knows how to defend itself, said Ehlert. “Especially if it thinks that its food will be stolen from it.” The spokesman for the Senate Department for the Environment made a request to the Berliners: “Please do not leave your rubbish and food near the water or in the forest.”
