The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that tobacco use depends on touching the hand to the mouth, which increases the possibility of transmission of the Corona virus to your body, and called for protection from the harms of smoking and to stop smoking.

The Ministry of Health and Population added that smoking increases the incidence of most types of cancer, adding that smoking causes about 90% of lung cancer incidence in men and 80% in women.

The Ministry of Health and Population said that studies indicated a link between smoking severity and breast cancer in women, pointing out that smoking significantly reduces the risk of most types of cancer associated with smoking.

The Ministry of Health and Population called on citizens to maintain health while quitting smoking, as the Ministry of Health and Population had warned of the risks of exposure of non-smokers to the combustion of smokers’ tobacco products, which transformed them into passive addicts.

The ministry explained that the smoke from smokers exposes both the smoker and the non-smoker to its harm, as it causes lung cancer for non-smokers, and increases the risk of coronary heart disease.

The ministry added that passive smoking causes 100,000 premature deaths annually from non-smokers, including men, women and children, explaining that tobacco smoke contains more than thousands of known chemicals, including 40 substances that cause cancer.
