Health: The initiative to detect “anemia, obesity and stunting” targets 14 million school students

The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that the initiative for early detection of “anemia, obesity and stunting” diseases for elementary school students aims to examine 14 million students in the primary stage of Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt..

The Ministry of Health and Population said that the initiative continues to work until the end of the school year in all governorates of the Republic, stressing that through the initiative medical surveys are conducted for students and measure weight, height, and hemoglobin in blood, to detect diseases resulting from malnutrition, and to develop the necessary mechanisms to improve health Students, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.


It is noteworthy that the cases affected by any of these diseases covered by the initiative are being transferred to health insurance clinics, to complete the necessary examinations and dispense treatment for free, and these students are also handed a “follow-up card” containing their data, in order to follow up periodically and check on their health condition continuously through 250 health insurance clinics in all governorates of the Republic.

It is noteworthy that 1,800 medical teams participated in the initiative, and each team consists of 3 individuals (a nurse, a laboratory technician, and an administrator), and they have been trained on examination and diagnostic protocols, and they have also been trained on infection control standards, as part of the Ministry’s keenness on the health and safety of all students..
