Yesterday, after a publication by the Center for Investigative Journalism (CPI), the official admitted that they have wrongly accounted for the data on positive cases on the island, which could mean a duplicity of cases.
During a press conference today at the Bureau for Emergency Management and Disaster Administration (Nmead), the secretary reiterated that the agency works with a gap in its data but assured that it will be refined. For his part, on several occasions he mentioned that all the countries in the world are working with “imperfect” data. However, when questioned by the press, González acknowledged the inaccuracy in the data, but that they will continue to use the information they have.
“The data we have is what we have. See her as a favor in a country. Definitely, we are going to debug it and that is my commitment, but we cannot continue turning the situation around, “said the secretary seconds before abruptly leaving the press conference.
“I am not in a position to be offended any more,” he added.
The official, during his address, repeatedly insisted that the imprecision in the data has been seen in the city of New York and in China with projections and counting deaths, respectively. However, unlike these jurisdictions, the island faces problems in counting those who tested positive for rapid and then had a molecular test performed to confirm the result and could have been accounted for as separate cases.
“Recognize that the data is imprecise. We would like data perfect, pure, to generate a solid and forceful model. But it does not exist. Neither Puerto Rico nor the United States, the most powerful nation in the world or anywhere in the world, “he said.
For his part, González assured that they are rebuilding the tract of information on the tests that have been carried out to try to correct the errors in the data, which includes information from private laboratories and those from the Department of Health.
