Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – After several days with wonderful spring weather, it will be significantly cooler on Easter Monday in North Rhine-Westphalia. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the temperatures at the beginning of the week only rise to a maximum between 9 and 13 degrees.
At the end of Holy Week and on Easter Sunday, predominantly blue skies and significantly warmer air temperatures had lured people outside. Because of the ban on contact in the Corona crisis, meetings of larger groups in North Rhine-Westphalia were prohibited. Politicians had also advised against visits to relatives and friends in order to prevent the virus from spreading further.
According to information from several cities in NRW, a large part of the population had adhered to the guidelines. There were only a few outliers like on Holy Saturday in Aachen, where the city had registered an increase in violations.
On Easter Monday, it not only gets much cooler, it can also rain at first. On the night of Tuesday, the rain does not come, but according to the forecast, slight ground frost is possible. In the mountains, the temperatures even drop to minus 3 degrees.
