Berlin (AP) – Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder sees a need for action in view of the reluctance to use the Astrazeneca vaccine. “If it goes on like this, we will be left sitting on a mountain of Astrazeneca vaccination doses. Nobody can want that with a vaccine that protects well,” said the CSU chairman of the editorial network Germany (RND / Friday). Of course it is now good to vaccinate teachers, educators and the police early. But there are countless people who want to be vaccinated, but are still far from it. “If the trend at Astrazeneca continues, there is no point in constantly setting new priorities. It would then make sense to immediately infect Astrazeneca through the medical profession. Because we should inoculate everything that is possible as quickly as possible,” said Söder.

Söder told Bayerischer Rundfunk that he was very concerned about the reluctance of Astrazeneca. “If it continues to be the case that thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of vaccine doses are not vaccinated, then the prioritization has to be completely reconsidered, especially for this Astrazeneca vaccine,” emphasized Söder. Vaccination doses could possibly be made available to doctors’ offices to ensure “quick vaccination”. Because everyone who is vaccinated – regardless of age – creates a little more freedom, emphasized the CSU boss.
