Health defends reservation of information on the purchase of Russian vaccines and says: “It is the IAIP who defines it”

Tegucigalpa – The Government, through the Ministry of Health (Sesal), defended the information reserve process in the acquisition of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, adding that these parameters are endorsed by the Institute for Access to Public Information (IAIP).

It also pointed out that, respecting the rule of law, the entity in charge of defining the reservation of information according to law is the Institute for Access to Public Information (IAIP).

“The contract is not confidential, only the clauses relating to the intellectual property of the vaccine and banking information were reserved,” he added.

The 40 thousand doses to come

Recently, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Lisandro Rosales, in his visit to Moscow, Russia, confirmed the arrival of 40,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, which will arrive in the country on Friday, April 30.

Similarly, he announced that another batch of 40,000 doses of the antidote will arrive in the country by the second week of May.

“The deliveries and fulfillment of the contract for the purchase and sale of Sputnik V, with the Direct Investment Fund of Russia (RDIF), will allow us to save many lives and we will have a better scenario for economic recovery and reactivation,” said the Foreign Minister. Honduran on the social network Twitter.

On April 16, a first batch of 6,000 doses of the Russian Sputnk V vaccine arrived in the country, which are part of the 4.2 million doses that Honduras is buying to inoculate its population.

To date, a total of 59 thousand doses of vaccines against COVID-19 have arrived in the country, 48 thousand of them were donated by the Covax / Gavi mechanism of the World Health Organization (WHO).

While 5 thousand doses of the Moderna vaccine were donated by the Government of Israel to Honduras.
