The SRF is saving. The discontinuation of “sportaktuell”, however, has to do with the “SRF 2024” project.

The program “sportpanorama” will not have to be missed in the future either. There you want to illuminate the most diverse facets of sport and place a lot of background.

Mr. Mägerle, why do you put off a topical program like “sportaktuell”? Roland Mägerle: SRF and SRF Sport have the task of providing information about everyday sporting events. Today you want to be informed immediately and at any time about the latest developments in sport. That is why we are relying even more heavily on the digital in the distribution of news, where we can continuously disseminate this content.
–
Is the linear slowly getting lost? No. In addition to live sports, we will broadcast “sportflash” several times a day and, among other things, show additional issues of “eishockeyaktuell” and “Super League – Goool” in the premium and main sports football and ice hockey.
–
Will these programs be expanded further? In the case of “sportflash” we have now unwittingly started this process of change. Because of Corona, we suspended “sportaktuell” because for a while there was simply no sport. But we still wanted to be present every day. So we implemented a “sportflash” twice a day, but slightly modified it in terms of content and presentation. This development continues.
–
To what extent did Corona have an influence on the discontinuation of “sportaktuell”? The “SRF 2024” process has been running since last November. Even back then, we were discussing “current sports” and the need for a daily sports update late in the evening. The decision was already becoming apparent. We saw that the mix of online reporting and “sportflash” on TV works well.
–
How much does the decision have to do with savings? “SRF 2024” is not a savings project, but a transformation project. In order to be able to finance new digital offers, we have to make linear adjustments.
–
And now the “sportaktuell” brand is a thing of the past? At some point you have to make a decision. And yes, I honestly admit, there is also a bit of sadness involved. I was there when we developed this “sportaktuell”. The format worked and was successful for a long time. But now we are facing new challenges.
–
Do you remember the first broadcast? I think Stefan Wagner moderated it … No, that’s not true, Thomas Aebischer (laughs). I can still see him in front of me. Yes, it was such a good, serious, good start.
–
Do the murderers have to worry about their jobs? No, we still have a lot of sport and that’s why we need them all. There will be changes in the areas of application, since we were able to try out a lot during Corona.
