The case has reached the regional court because the accused has appealed the conviction of the Daugavpils court. It has already been reported that in Daugavpils court a woman was found guilty of intentional moderate bodily harm if they were of a torture or torture nature and were committed against a person in a helpless state, as well as serious bodily injury committed against a person in a helpless state. The court also found him guilty of cruelty and violence against a minor.

The final punishment after a combination of criminal offenses, partly counting the sentences imposed, is imprisonment for nine years and probation supervision for three years. On the other hand, the security measure has been changed from staying in a certain place and prohibiting to leave the country to detention until the day the judgment enters into force.

It was also decided to recover from the woman compensation for non-pecuniary damage for the benefit of the children, a total of 13,705 euros, and state compensation paid to the victim for the benefit of the state in the amount of 1295 euros.

The father of the children was also initially charged in the case, but he has died and the criminal proceedings against the man have been terminated.

As Kristīne Sutugina, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, previously informed LETA, the evidence gathered by the prosecutor’s office shows that parents used cruel and violent treatment of their six minor children, causing physical and mental suffering to the minors.

Sutugina informed that at the end of 2015, the mother of the children forbade the child to eat and drink, but when the young man, hungry, took a bottle of milk and a cup of jelly without permission, she began to curse him in the presence of all the other children and did several crutches. blows to the child’s body, causing him serious injuries. Continuing his actions aimed at torturing the child, the accused deliberately broke the victim’s leg.

The injuries to the child were hidden.

The children’s father used physical violence against each of the children by beating them with a wooden stick on the body. The mother of the children did not stop her husband’s activities, Sutugina informed.
