Two men in their twenties who were paddling on Lac des Deux Montagnes fell into the water on Saturday. A witness to the scene managed to rescue one, but the other man did not make it.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec on Sunday found the body of the 28-year-old man from Gatineau who had sunk the day before.
The area where the two friends were was was unsupervised.
Pierre-Luc Laliberté was on the beach with some friends when they heard a cry of distress.
“Both were submerged and came to the surface crying for help so that we go help them. I swam at top speed, they were maybe 250 feet from the edge, ”he says.
He quickly joined the two people in distress and tried to help them by pulling them closer to the board.
“I helped a person to board the paddle board, then when I turned around for the second person it was gone. I tried to dive, it’s very, very hollow, I was not able to find it, ”adds the Good Samaritan.
He confirmed that the two people were not wearing a flotation jacket. “On the paddle board, their vests were there,” he said.
Pierre-Luc says he was upset when he saw the life jacket that sat on the board. “It was so easy to avoid. They had the equipment, if they had worn it, there would be a life that would have been saved, ”he says.
