In the evening hours of the previous day in Istanbul, SH (31) left his house in Ataşehir to take a walk at around 19.30. Mert Berkan B. (52), who came running across the street, touched his hip while passing by SH. SH could not understand the situation and continued on his way, thinking that his arm or bag had hit him. After 10-15 minutes, Mert Berkan B. appeared just behind SH. SH, in his testimony at the safety of those moments when he was terrified, said, “He came behind me and pulled me to his genital area. He clenched my breasts and touched my legs ”.
Stating that he was pushing the person who attacked him, SH chased Mert Berkan B., who started to run away. Seeing that Mert Berkan B. entered the alley of a restaurant, SH explained the situation to the restaurant staff. Employees started to wait in front of Mert Berkan B., who was unable to escape. Police came to the scene and detained Mert Berkan B.

Mert Berkan B.’s lawyer father, Elvan B., stated that his client was not suspected of escaping and asked to be released on the condition of judicial control. Istanbul Anatolia 1st Criminal Judge of Peace released Mert Berkan B. on the condition of not leaving the house where he lived. It was learned that SH’s lawyer would appeal this decision. It was determined that Mert Berkan B. is a registered tourist guide in the Istanbul Chamber of Guides. Suspect Mert Berkan B. left our request for a meeting on the subject unanswered.
‘SPIRIT HALIM UNBALANCED’
Mert Berkan B., who was referred to the court by the prosecutor’s office with a request for arrest, claimed that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident in the judge’s interrogation. Stating that they have family problems, B. said, “I do not accept the claims. Sexual assault no. “I encountered such an event because of my mood instability,” he said.
