He found a friend from school and started extorting and forcing him. Will be judged in Braga

He will be tried for kidnapping, extortion and theft. António Cabrera Ribeiro, 27, from Braga, was accused by the local prosecutor of the local court for trying to extort money from a former schoolmate, João Morant.

The accusation says that the two met in early 2018, in the Fujacal neighborhood, after several years without seeing each other. At a certain point, Cabrera offered to buy some sneakers from the brand Nike, telling him that “then they talked about the price”. Morant accepted.

After a few days, António Cabrera began to call his friend, demand money and start threatening him. He did it two or three times, saying that “I had to feed my children!”

In response, the buyer of the sneakers I told him that I only received my salary in early May. Despite this, he was intimidated and handed over ten euros. On May 7, Cabrera made another phone call and, in response, he was told that he would give him another 40 euros since the Nike they were not worth more than 50. Threatened, he gave him 40 euros and ended up giving him another 50. But the case did not stop there.

Kidnapping and theft

In fact, on May 10, Cabrera phoned him asking for more money, because he was “in trouble”. He insisted on making an appointment and explained that “he owed some Gypsies from Barcelos, from Galicia, who would have to pay“ to avoid problems ”. Naive – says MP- Morant met him again, but said he had no money. Continued, the defendant punched the side protection of the car window, breaking it.

Then they went to a cafe in Maximinos. There, the victim, who was carrying a Samsung cell phone, asked the owner to keep it, fearing that the other would take it away. At the time, he put the ATM card in a sneaker, to hide it.

Then, as if it forced him to get in the car, to go to these individuals, which he described as “dangerous dealers”.

He asked him to withdraw 120 euros from a cash machine in Ferreiros, which João Morant did, but with a card from another account, where he only had three euros.

So I wanted to take out his cell phone, but he said he didn’t have it. Cabrera searched him and called his cell phone to see if he was hiding it.

“Don’t play with me,” he threatened. Altogether, he forced Morant to drive around for three hours, always threatening.

Mobile phone from 789 euros

The next day, at 7:45 am he went to the cafe, suspecting that he had stayed there. She asked the owner, she said she had nothing, but he called and heard her ring. She ended up going out with him, stealing it.

The MP concluded that the accused acted to deprive the victim of “his freedom” and accused him of kidnapping, extortion and theft. It will be tried later this month.
