He bought a monkey and distributed 20 million to the people. Lubo Smid from STRV started the year traditionally untraditionally

In a world called STRV, you don’t come across conventional ways of working. However, developers from Karlín, Prague, who have built a name for themselves in the world for clients such as Tinder, Microsoft or The Athletic, are paying off.

Last year was again a record year for them: they earned about 400 million in the Czech crowns with a profitability of about 105 million. In the first metric, they improved by eighteen percent year on year, while in the second even by fifty-eight percent. The nomadic management of the company, which is practiced by CEO and majority owner Lubo Smid, can clearly lead to great results.

Smid, which you will encounter either on the mountain slopes, in California’s Venice Beach or with a little luck in the aforementioned Karlín, nevertheless took a truly unifying step before Christmas – he distributed more than 20 million crowns among employees who are longer in STRV.

“The success of STRV is the success of all of us, so I wanted to make it clear to my colleagues,” says Smid, who reportedly did not avoid being touched during the distribution of money.

“The year 2021 was a turning point for us in many ways. We managed to deliver eleven top products to our clients and we have completed the largest product so far – my heart, Barry’s gym, “he continues.

An unconventional entrepreneur gained a virtually unknown network of gyms in the Czech Republic, which is not only an overseas phenomenon, among his clients by flying all its locations with his partner David Semerád. Of course, this did not escape the attention of the founder of Barry’s, and STRV subsequently prepared a digital solution for his network.

They will then continue in a peculiar rhythm. “I see great potential in the area of blockchain and NFT,” Smid suggests one of the directions that STRV is taking. However, he deftly adds that he does not only mean the current “pump and dump” trend.

“Some say that two percent of all NFTs make real sense. I see it similarly, “Smid calculates. To better understand the whole community, he bought, as he likes to say, his own monkey – by which he means the NFT from the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection.

The insight into the world on the blockchain is important for Smida primarily because they are preparing a game Scavenger Land directly in STRV, which will be inspired by the NFT world and will work with tokens.

“We always want to explore the potential of the latest technologies and how we can use them ourselves,” says Smid. For the new year, he has set aside more than a million dollars to invest in projects under the banner of STRV Labs, in which, according to him, he sees the future of the entire company.
