Hazard, an attacking midfielder, retires from the field at the age of 31 with 33 goals in 126 games over his 14-year career. He made his debut on November 19, 2008 against Luxembourg. Hazard was then 17 years old. He was the eighth youngest player to play for his country. He has led the team 56 times, including three World Cups and two European Championships.
Hazard played in all three of Qatar’s World Cup group stage matches. The only consolation was a 1-0 win over Canada. Belgium lost 2-0 against Morocco and drew 0-0 against Croatia. Belgium coach Roberto Martinez resigned on Thursday after being knocked out in the group stage.
Hazard was part of the Belgian squad that finished third in the 2018 World Cup. This result was defeating England. Belgium lost 1-0 to France in the semi-finals.
