Hawks and Pelicans with a shot at final playoff tickets

Atlanta –

The Atlanta Hawks and the New Orleans Pelicans each get a shot at the last two playoff tickets in the NBA.

The Hawks scored 132:103 against the Charlotte Hornets in the so-called play-in and will now face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. The winner of this game gets the last Eastern Conference playoff ticket and meets the Miami Heat in the first round.

The Pelicans won 113-103 against the San Antonio Spurs and now have to play the Los Angeles Clippers around Isaiah Hartenstein for the last ticket of the Western Conference. Whoever wins this encounter will face the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.

The Hawks made the preliminary decision against the Hornets with a strong 42:24 in the third quarter. Trae Young had 24 points for the Hawks, the best pitcher of the game was LaMelo Ball with 26 points. The Pelicans also had a good third quarter, but they almost continuously increased their lead and only let the Spurs get back into the game a little in the last few minutes. Best pitcher was CJ McCollum with 32 points for the Pelicans.
