Harvard Center for International Development Announces New Class of Fellows for 2025
Cambridge, MA - November 21, 2024 - The Harvard Center for International development (CID) today announced the arrival of a new cohort of distinguished fellows for the 2025 academic year. These practitioners, hailing from diverse backgrounds and global locations, will contribute to CID’s ongoing research, teaching initiatives, and engagement wiht critical development challenges worldwide.
The incoming fellows represent a wealth of experience in finance, international advocacy, economics, and global health. Among those joining CID are: Muhammad Chatib Basri, former Minister of Finance of Indonesia and former Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board; Mom. Bineta Diop, a leading international women’s rights advocate and peacebuilder; Gomez agou, a Senior Economist and current IMF Resident Representative in Gabon; and Gabby Stern, former Director of Communications at the World Health Organization.
“I’m delighted to welcome our new cohort of fellows to CID – a distinguished group of practitioners from around the world,” said Asim Khwaja, Director of Harvard Center for International Development. “Their deep experience and on-the-ground perspectives will not only strengthen our research and practice but also create unique learning opportunities for our students. Together, they will help enrich the vibrant CID community and advance our mission of driving inclusive, evidence-based development.”
The new fellows will integrate with CID’s existing community of Predoctoral Fellows, Visiting PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows, and those participating in the Visiting Researcher Program and the China and the Global Economy Initiative.
A hallmark of the CID fellowship program is the CID Student Seminar, led by Senior Fellows. These seminars provide Harvard students with direct access to insights from leading global practitioners. This fall, five seminars will be offered by fellows including Bineta Diop, Pak Chatib Basri, Gomez Agou, wasim Tahir, and Vishnu Venugopalan, with additional seminars scheduled for the spring semester.
