Harder ruined for Syrstad Engen and the old club again – VG

The Danish striker, who became the world’s most expensive female player when she went to Chelsea this autumn after four seasons in Wolfsburg, scored one goal and won the match in the first quarter final (2-1 victory) and sent the London club in the lead in the return match in Budapest this afternoon.

Harder was safe from the penalty spot after Sam Kerr was fouled by Sara Doorsoun. Then 26 minutes were played. Five minutes later, Doorsoun did a bad job when a wrong-turned Kerr turned around and scored the 2-0 goal from just over 10 meters.

It was the Australian star striker’s 20th goal in all tournaments this season.

Thus, last year’s Champions League finalist Wolfsburg had to have four goals to move on. The Germans had their chances but never managed to fool Ann-Katrin Berger, Chelsea’s German goalkeeper.

Instead, Fran Kirby took the chance on a counterattack and put in 3-0 with a nice lob alone with Wolfsburg goalkeeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek.

Now Chelsea can probably prepare for German opposition also in the semifinals. Bayern Munich has 3-0 to go on before Thursday’s return match against Swedish Rosengård (sent on VG +).

Ingrid Syrstad Engen played 85 minutes for Wolfsburg, Guro Reiten was substituted for Chelsea after 61 minutes of play. Karina Sævik was – as in the first match – sitting on the bench for the Germans.

PS! Chelsea’s Maren Mjelde is out with an injury for the rest of the season.
