Hard heels and sweaty feet – how to prevent it

Winter can significantly affect the well-being of our foot skin, admits beauty consultant Dārziņa. There is cold air outside and central heating indoors, and this difference reduces the humidity and often makes the skin dry.

What to start?

To prevent the problem of dry skin, a caring foot cream should be used every day after the shower, the specialist recommends. Also, various types of salts and essences for foot baths are available for foot care, as well as specialized creams for solving and preventing various skin problems of the feet. Special foot creams mostly deeply soften, moisturize and protect dry, cracked skin from cracking, improve skin elasticity, promote peeling, crack healing and restore skin microbioma. Such creams are also suitable for people with foot skin disorders.

For everyday use, it is recommended to choose, for example, whipped cream for daily use in the morning and evening. They have a regenerating and anti-aging effect on the skin. In addition, these products are usually non-greasy in texture and retain the necessary moisture in the skin.

For very dry feet, it is recommended to use creams with 30% -50% urea, which will moisturize the skin of the feet for 24 hours and also prevent the formation of blisters. They nourish and protect the skin of the feet and are recommended for daily use.

To avoid the formation of hard heels

Hard skin on the feet is usually caused by sweating and wearing closed, hard, uncomfortable shoes. These are dead cells that need to be carefully removed with a special foot file or foot scrub. To combat hard skin on the heels, you can start with relaxing foot baths two to three times a week. It is important to keep in mind that the foot bath should not use hot water! Warm water will be more suitable and skin-friendly. Special extracts, sea salt or essential oils can be added to the water. Once a month, it is recommended to remove the skin of hard heels with a foot file, soaking the feet for 10-20 minutes beforehand. Exfoliating socks can also be put on for this purpose.

After the abrasion procedure, a foot mask is applied, which moisturizes and nourishes the skin of the feet. Foot masks are also available in the form of socks, which are very comfortable and convenient to use. From now on, the foot care procedure will be very simple – use foot cream once or twice a day, while the foot scrub and mask should be used once a week. Remember – the abrasive procedure must be performed once a month!

Foot masks

During the winter, masks for the skin of the feet can become a real salvation. They remove the rough, cracked skin of the feet and restore the skin of the feet with one use, says A. Dārziņa. The purpose of the mask is to make the skin of the feet soft and silky and to help remove skin thickening. Foot masks usually contain 15% -20% urea. Always follow the instructions for use on the mask packaging for best results.

Paraffin baths

Another procedure that can be performed at home for the care of the skin of the feet and hands during the winter is paraffin baths, says A. Dārziņa. During the procedure, your hands or feet are immersed in a bath filled with paraffin heated to a certain temperature. The heat generated by the paraffin improves blood circulation to the treated area, as well as removes the accumulated tension and tension from the hands or feet. With this procedure, it is also possible to reduce muscle and arthritis pain. During the procedure, the pores are opened with the help of heat and the accumulated toxins are removed, which are absorbed into the paraffin. The paraffin bath moisturizes the top layer of the skin, and the effect of moisturizing functions lasts for a long time. Cosmetic paraffin suitable for the procedure can be purchased at a pharmacy.

How to make a paraffin bath?

  • Wash hands, disinfect.
  • Apply a moisturizing or nourishing cream.
  • Soak your hands or feet 3-4 times in a warm paraffin bath. It will look like a paraffin glove and then be wrapped in soft terry gloves or socks.
  • Duration of the procedure: 20 – 30 minutes.

Contraindications when not recommended: inflammatory processes in the skin, infectious skin diseases.

Also, do not forget to use the required amount of water for skin health on a daily basis, as well as to choose high-quality, comfortable shoes that do not rub, do not press on the foot and are made of high-quality, natural materials. Make sure your feet feel good and comfortable – this will help you feel good for both the skin of your feet and you in general!
