Hard defeat of Tecatito’s Mexico against Cavani’s Uruguay (0-3)

A double by Edinson Cavani led in the early hours of this Thursday the thrashing of the Uruguayan team by 0-3 over that of Mexico by Sevilla player Tecatito Corona in a preparation match for the Qatar 2022 World Cup at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale ( Arizona). He started 75 minutes as a right winger.

Mexico will play the third and final friendly of this American tour in the early hours of Sunday to Monday, when Ecuador is measured at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Sevilla players Gudelj and Agustinsson also played two Nations League games on Thursday. Serbia and Sweden debuted in Group 4 of League B, which they curiously share, with the Swede starting and winning against Slovenia away from home (0-2) and defeat for the Balkans (0-1), who also started from the start in the home match against Norway, replaced by Luka Jovic after the break and without minutes for Dmitrovic.

Uruguay imposes its punch

Matías Vecino was with Cavani the other scorer for the Uruguayans. The first half was slow to explode due to a defensive duel between both teams. Uruguay tried to break the dispute with an overflow from the right wing by Facundo Pellistri in the 13th minute that ended in a left-footed shot by Federico Valderde that crashed into a post.

After that, the match fell back into a rut without emotions until at minute 34 Valderde took a corner kick from the right that Edinson Cavani, with a header, caused a rebound from goalkeeper Alfredo Talvera that Vecino took advantage of to make it 0-1.

The Mexicans managed to finish off the goal until the 43rd minute when Jorge Sánchez, from the right, crossed a ball to the second post where Jesús Corona with his right shot into the hands of Sergio Rochet.

In the first play of the second half, Uruguay increased its advantage. At 46, Pellistri again generated danger down the right lane, from where he served Cavani in the center of the area, who without markers defined the 0-2 with his right leg.

Cavani completed his double at 54. Damián Suárez saw the striker free and assisted him so that Edinson, from outside the area, took a low shot for 0-3.
